Design

Redmi-Note-8-Pro-Review

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a very good build quality with the plastic frame on the sides. It is wider, taller and has 6.53″ screen size. The weight of this phone is on the heavier side, at 200 grams and you will feel it heavier for sure. It has Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and the back, which is glossy and slippery as well. The Note 8 Pro has a fingerprint sensor at the back in the camera bump. The placement of the fingerprint could have been better, by placing it a little down, as it is quite a task to stretch the finger to the camera bump. The camera bump on the rear camera is on the big side and you will notice it if you are using the phone by keeping on the table.

Display

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has IPS LCD panel with a notch on the top. It has a 6.53″ display with 2340 x 1080 resolution. The notch is very minimal at the top. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 in the front and the back. It is sufficiently bright and has a high contrast display. In terms of colour accuracy and display quality, it has a pretty good display. The screen is visible in outdoor conditions. The Viewing angles are excellent on this phone.

Camera

Redmi-Note-8-Pro-Review

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a Quad AI 64MP Rear Camera and 20MP Selfie Camera. The quad-camera setup on the rear camera includes a 64MP Primary camera + 8MP Ultra-wide camera + 2MP depth sensor +2MP macro. The primary camera 64MP is a decent camera which will not make you go awe. The 64MP camera some times overexposes the images with fewer details and the size of every photo is nearly 20-25MB which is huge. The 2MP Macro camera is really impressive on this phone, the macro-shots comes out very detailed. The 20MP selfie camera does a really good job. The images come out really good and sharp.

The ultra-wide camera is a big let down on this phone as the quality of the photos are pretty average with less detail, which will make you use the primary camera only. Low-light images came out very good on this phone. The images are sharp, detailed in the shadows and has plenty of noise. You will love recording wide-angle and macro-shot videos, which is a big advantage of this phone. Overall, the camera on this phone is good but nothing extraordinary.

Battery

Redmi-Note-8-Pro-Review

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a 4500 mAh battery. It will last you for two days if you are a casual user and for hardcore users, they may have to charge the phone at night. The screen on-time is between 8 Hr to 8 Hr 30 min. It comes with the 18W fast charger and you will be disappointed that it won’t charge the phone quick enough. It will take around 2 Hr 15 min or 2 Hr 30 min to charge fully, which is really disappointing. Overall, Redmi Note 8 Pro has good battery life.

Performance

The MediaTek Helio G90T is an Octa-core processor, which is a gaming-centric chip. The performance of Redmi Note 8 Pro is very good and fast with day to day usage. You will find no lags whatsoever while using the phone. The gaming performance of this phone is very impressive. You can play high-end games like PUBG, COD with ease and without any frame drops or lags. The good thing about this Note 8 Pro is, it never gets hot even if you are playing heaving games or in daily usage. The Audio quality from the speakers is loud and is very good. The sound output from the 3.5mm jack is loud and decent. You will find distortions in the sound here and there.

The Xiomi’s software MIUI 10 is more refined and smooth Andriod skins. You can customize a lot of features on the phone and has a number of add-on features. It has dark mode enabled in the settings and the dark mode works only in the compatible apps. You will find a lot of bloatware and Ads on the phone, which is very annoying. While setting up the phone, make sure you uncheck the bloatware apps and unnecessary things.
